What is a Virtual Assistant?

The clue is in the name—a Virtual Assistant is an assistant who works remotely, supporting your business from their laptop, wherever they are. 

Why hire a VA instead of employing someone?

It's true, a Virtual Assistant's hourly rate is higher than the one of an average office employee - BUT that's not the whole picture:

- My clock stops when the work stops. You don't get charged for my lunch breaks, if I take a personal phone call or if I answer the door. Time is tracked very meticulously and  you only pay for actual work that gets done.
- Because of that, I am going to be much more efficient and determined to get tasks done in a set amount of time, especially as you are not my only client or my only income stream, so I will always try to tick things off as efficiently as I can, rather than waste my own time.

A BIT ABOUT ME

Why I started "Lara's Virtual Desk"

My partner used to come home after a long day on the tools, spend a few minutes with our son, and then reluctantly go on his laptop to get the paperwork "over and done with". However, because he never enjoyed that side of the business, and he isn't particularly fast on the keyboard,  he would end up spending hours and hours sending invoices and scanning receipts, and he was getting frustrated and fed up with it.
 
That's where I stepped in - I started catching up with his books, scanning all receipts, making sure suppliers were paid, sending and following up on customer's invoices, and organising his diary.

Lo and behold, with all this newfound time, he was able to grow his business in a short amount of time, get more customers and hire more people to cope with the growth. 

I thought "he can't be the only one with this problem" - so I set up LVD, to help tradesmen outsource their admin and focus on what really matters!

My background

I was born and raised in Switzerland, speak fluent German and English and have a degree in applied linguistics.  
In 2020, I realised I had enough of the cheese & chocolate and moved to the UK, where I found my footing in project management for a Telecommunications company after previously working in events management.

PROPOSAL

I will put together a bespoke proposal for your business, giving you a few options and suggestions on what I think would work best and outlining what exactly I will be doing for you.

We have agreed the details, so let's get started! I send you all the privacy docs & contracts, you countersign, I log into any accounts, systems , and tools online, seamlessly working as if I was part of your in-house team!

BOARDING

It won't be long before you can't remember how it used to be! The first weeks I will check in with you more frequently so you can double check the quality of my work, and so that you feel comfortable delegating more and more things. 
You get your invoice and a detailed breakdown of my tasks and hours at the end of the month and if anything needs changing (more hours / less hours) we change it - easy as that!
