5 Easy Fixes To Win More Customers

If I had to choose, these are my favourite tweaks I suggest to business owners that will immediately improve the way they work, the way their business looks to the outside world, and the impression they leave on potential clients.
#1 Email templates & auto-responses
Not everyone likes to get on the phone, so an email is often the preferred way to enquire. Even though they don't want to call, they'll still expect a swift response, or else they'll just go with whoever responds quickest. Can you guarantee a prompt turnaround? Are you constantly looking at your inbox and typing up responses while you're running around? Understandably, you are not.
The solution: Create email templates and automatic responses!
Customers want quick responses - even a placeholder email helps. Set up an auto-reply like, “Thank you for your email, I’ll get back to you by [time]", for example, "before the end of the day" if you tend to deal with enquiries before 6pm.
Reminds me of what I've learnt in a bartending course: Always acknowledge a new customer at the bar with a head nod; it will make them happy to wait their turn, even if it takes a little longer, because they know you've seen them and you will get to them.
Different business, same concept, same result.
Another great way to save time and become more efficient is by creating email templates for standard responses. What is your accompanying text for sending out quotes? Do you always need certain pointers first before you can get back to a customer, for example, confirming their availability, asking for pictures/drawings of what they want, or needing their address?
All of this can be packed into a template email that you can just copy, paste, and fire out immediately upon receiving a request. Either build it into your auto-mail or have it ready to respond quickly, even while on the go.
Last thing I want to mention, and I cannot stress this enough, if you have not got a professional email domain yet - get one. It doesn't cost you more than £10 per month, but it makes you look so much more reputable than a "business@hotmail.co.uk" email address.
I never understand it when I see a Gmail or Outlook email printed on a van - you've spent all that money to sign your vehicle, but you haven't bothered to get a professional domain? Let's fix it!
Don't worry, you can forward all email that still goes to your old account and slowly fade it out; you will not miss anything.
Don't have a domain yet? Feel like it all sounds good but not sure how to go about making the changes?
