Where do you go when looking for a local tradesperson? That's right, Google.

What do you do to decide if you want to hire them? Correct, read the reviews.

If your business doesn't have any, or the one coming up above yours in the search has two hundred 5-star reviews, you're out of the race.

The solution: Automate & send review requests after job completion!

I know what you're thinking, not another thing to remember. But don't worry, you don't have to. Software like Zapier (https://zapier.com/) can be set up to automatically send out a review request after an invoice has been paid or after you've completed a job (depending on your preference).

You don't need to be an IT expert either; on Zapier you can connect apps like a spreadsheet or your CRM system and create a workflow that triggers an email with a review request after a specific event happens on that other platform.

It's also easy to get a custom review link from your Google Business profile by logging into your Google account > Business Profile Manager > Read reviews and then clicking on "Get more reviews" - that will bring up a link that leads customers directly to your review page.

If you're not quite ready to automate, why not create an email template with this custom link and send out review requests in bulk at the end of the week?

A good time to send the requests is at night, between 7-9pm, when the kids are in bed and the customer is likely to have a spare minute to type up some feedback for you.

Don't forget to respond to Google reviews - it bumps you up on Google searches as you are engaging with clients and your page is getting updates, and an active page will always rank higher on Google search results than an inactive one.
